Description

Central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC) has a marked male predisposition. However, pregnancy is a well-known risk factor for the development of CSC, probably related to the increase in endogenous corticosteroids. It usually has a good prognosis and resolves spontaneously after delivery.

Comments

CSC is one of the possible causes of decreased vision during pregnancy, which usually appears in the last trimester.

Indication

A 38-year-old woman in her 8th month of pregnancy was referred for decreased vision in the left eye. The fundus showed a serous macular detachment with subretinal yellowish-white exudates. OCT confirmed the diagnosis of CSC.
