Epiretinal Membrane (ERM)

Color retinography (CLARUS 500, Zeiss): Epiretinal membrane at the macular level with marked star-shaped retinal folds. Evident inferior macular ectopia.

OCT (Cirrus-HD 6000, Zeiss): Epiretinal membrane at the macular level that mildly alters the foveal profile and is accompanied by multiple retinal folds. Initial alterations of external layers.

Description

Epiretinal Membrane (ERM). It is a fibrocellular, avascular, and transparent tissue located on the inner surface of the retina that adheres to and covers the internal limiting membrane of the retina. It is generally located at the macular level and can be bilateral in up to 20% of cases. In some cases, it can cause severe foveal ectopia, generating marked metamorphopsia.
