Epiretinal Membrane (ERM) Associated with Macular Pseudohole

Color retinography (CLARUS 500, Zeiss): Increased macular brightness with pseudohole image

OCT (Cirrus-HD 6000, Zeiss) (A): Epiretinal membrane at the macular level accompanied by an image of a foveal pseudohole. Its edges create an angle close to 90°.

Description

The ERM generates a traction force on the macula; when this force is centrifugal, it causes a separation of the retinal layers in the fovea, which is known as a macular pseudohole. Generally, this process evolves slowly, and its symptoms, treatment, and prognosis are similar to those of ERM.
