Idiopathic macular hole (stage Ib)

Color retinography (CLARUS 500 Zeiss): A yellowish foveal ring corresponding to the traction zone can be seen.

OCT (CIRRUS 6000, Zeiss): Vitreomacular traction in the foveal area causing a loss of macular depression associated with a foveal lift that converges with the pseudocysts of the inner retina.

Description

In stage Ib macular hole there is a break in continuity that occupies the entire thickness of the fovea, associated with vitreomacular traction. Patients report decreased visual acuity as well as a central scotoma.
