Retinal fold after retinal detachment surgery

Description

Retinal folds are rare complications of retinal detachment surgery. Risk factors include superior retinal detachments, wide encircling bands, incomplete surgical drainage, and giant tears.

Comments

Giant tear retinal detachments are one of the main risk factors for the appearance of retinal folds.

Indication

A 65-year-old woman with retinal detachment due to a giant tear. After posterior vitrectomy with gas exchange (C2F6), a retinal fold in the superior arcade due to retinal slippage is observed.
