Severe vitreomacular traction

Color retinography (CLARUS 500, Zeiss): Discrete increase in macular brightness.

OCT (Cirrus-HD 6000, Zeiss) (A): Severe vitreomacular traction with marked thickening of the posterior hyaloid and foveoschisis of the outer layers. The traction point is focal.

Description

Vitreomacular traction. Vitreomacular traction is considered when the posterior hyaloid deforms the macular area causing a distortion of the structures in the form of edema, foveoschisis and/or tractional retinal detachment. The severity of the lesion will determine the treatment with vitrectomy or observation. Another factor to take into account is the traction surface, since the smaller it is, the greater the chances of spontaneous release.
