Indication
Symptomatic retinal arterial occlusion is an ophthalmic emergency that requires immediate evaluation. It is an obstruction of blood circulation that can be caused by an embolus, vasculitis, vessel wall trauma, or a spasm. In the area of retinal ischemia, vision loss occurs. Some patients also present with silent and simultaneous ischemic strokes.
